Sigma sd Quattro: AF Issues for Sigma SA Mount Lenses Announced

If you were planning to purchase the Sigma sd Quattro (availability and prices just announced: Sigma: sd Quattro Mirrorless Camera, 30mm 1.4 DC HSM Art Lens and EF-630 Flash: Pricing and Availability), you’d be wise to stick to their new Art, Sports and Contemporary line of lenses.

That’s because Sigma has quietly released a terse announcement concerning various AF issues (“limitations”) with some (25, or 27 if you use their teleconverter, out of 40) of its lenses on the sd Quattro, which has a planned release date of July 2016.

There is currently no indication that they intend to work on the AF issues for the lenses affected and provide a resolution in the near future.

A glance at the list of lenses that apparently have no AF issues are the new Art, Sports and Contemporary lenses. So, if you were thinking of buying the sd Quattro, stick to those lenses.
