In what is amounting to be an embarassing encore, Volvo has once again failed a crash test demo attended by auto journalists. A new Volvo S60 sedan was aimed straight at the back of a parked truck and its collision-avoidance system was supposed to bring the car to a stop safely. It didn’t. In a telling example of why the snafu occurred, Volvo quickly shifted the blame of the failure to the engineer who prepared the demo, something about a battery not recharged properly? After all, “the system worked flawlessly the day before.”
