There are a number of ways to participate in World Photography Day/Week:
- You can submit your best photos taken around the world, and the stories behind them, for consideration to be featured on the World Photography Daily website.
- Or, share your best photos on social media using hashtag #WorldPhotographyDay. Then look for posts using that tag, like, comment and share other photographers’ photos.
- Finally, you can also take part in various online and in-person events and contests around the world.
I can’t help but reflect on my first cameras, those that introduced me to the wonder of photography. In my case, my very first camera was a cheap plastic Agfa Click-I that took black-and-white 120 roll film, and it wasn’t even mine. In fact, most of the cameras I used belonged to my older brother who had gotten bitten by the photography bug before I was, and I just kinda followed him in that path. We also had a friend of our dad who was a self-taught carpenter, artist, and avid photographer — and he was also a great influence in developing our passion for photography (that was before the Internet and social media). So go ahead and share your images on social media; you never know just who you might influence to take up photography.
What was the very first camera that you used?
