This Is The World’s Most Expensive Photograph at $4.3M

This photo by Andreas Gursky has just set a record for the most expensive photograph ever sold. “A distinguished private German collector” has purchased it at a Christie’s auction in New York City for more than $4.3 million. The photo was taken in 1999, is titled “Rhein II” and measures 73 x 143 in. (185.4 x 363.5 cm.). It’s supposed to be “a dramatic and profound reflection on human existence and our relationship to nature.” It beats out Cindy Sherman’s Untitled #96 which was sold a couple of months earlier for $3.8 million.
